Leith School of Art Christmas Exhibition
A really busy invitation evening at Leith School of Art's Christmas Exhibition. The Contemporary Art Practice course was well represented, with a good range of work exhibited. What a lot of work must have gone into getting it all set up! I exhibited my Cross Fertilisation: Science and Art piece, which got quite a lot of interest and comment.
Haddington End of Term Show
An enjoyable Christmas lunch (thanks to Janet!) followed by the class end of term show at Poldrate Mill Arts and Crafts Centre, Haddington. I was glad of the exhibition, as it forced me into framing my Charity Shop series of paintings, which I had produced in response to the theme of 'Transience'. It is amazing for what a short time we keep our clothes, how many we all have, how we dispose of them without considering the environmental cost of producing those clothes or the impact that our 'charity' is having on African communities, whose local industries (fabric printing, clothing manufacturers etc) suffer when our cast offs end up in their markets.
